Since graduating from Edinburgh college of Art in 1995, Serena Hall has worked Full time as a professional artist. She has completed numerous private and commercial commissions before opening her first gallery in 1999.
She relocated to larger premises in the year 2000 to 16 Queen Street, Southwold. It is here that she exhibits her highly original paintings, mixed media works and her sculptural ceramics.
Originally from London she moved to Southwold with her family aged 12 and it was here with the inspirational views from her beachfront home that she started painting seriously. Her trademark broad brushstrokes and use of colour is typical of her style.
Serena was the overall winner of the Oil of Olay princes trust award for visionary women in 2001. She also won the creative category.
The gallery was short listed for Rural business of the year award by Country Living magazine in 2002
As well as working in her studio on exhibition work she also undertakes design commissions. And is now concentrating on enjoying the challenge of designing the new collection of textiles, wallpapers and accessories for her new company.
Serena’s work has been in numerous magazines and in the recent publication Southwold artists by Ian Collins. She has been featured on television and radio, more recently she was filmed in her studio for the ITV programme coastal inspirations. Broadcast April 2006.
